Dubai, (IINA) - For the first time in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, the International Humanitarian City (IHC) held a three-day humanitarian project titled Management Course for Emergencies, WAM reported on Monday.
The course, which was launched in Dubai, was organized in partnership with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and instructed by RedR, a global humanitarian capacity building NGO based in the UK.
Hosting the course comes in line with IHC’s "Connect: Humanity" pillar objectives to enable and support the work of humanitarian agencies and NGOs, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the humanitarian workers globally.
This also comes under the broader goals of IHC being part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Global Initiatives to invest AED 1.5 billion ($410 million) in knowledge and education with the aim of empowering communities in the region and around the globe.
The course was designed to strengthen the skills and knowledge base of humanitarian personnel that are required to manage projects in emergency settings, in addition to development practitioners aimed to manage projects in emergency response.
In addition, it included material on needs assessment methods, project design, monitoring and evaluation, financial analysis, and the importance of coordination and collaboration.
The course was attended by 15 humanitarian workers from organizations based in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE in addition to IHC members from the international humanitarian organizations.
