OIC welcomes formation of Libya unity government

Thursday 21 Jan 2016 - 10:16 Makkah mean time-11-4-1437 OIC chief Iyad Madani Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the accord reached by the Libyan political parties on the formation of Government of National Accord (GNA) and commended this important political step towards the preservation of Libya's unity and sovereignty and the restoration of its security and stability. OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani also commended the crucial role played by the UN Special Representative and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), neighboring countries and the international actors in sponsoring and supporting the different phases of the Libyan national dialogue. The OIC called on the Libyan House of Representatives to endorse and support the new administration for the interest of the Libyan people and the realization of their security, stability and development.
