Saudi Arabia to donate $500,000 to support 'Digital Good Platform' project

Riyadh (IINA) – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman issued directives to donate an amount of $500,000 on behalf of Saudi Arabia to support various development programs of Digital Good Platform project, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
This was announced Saturday by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani during the inauguration ceremony of the Digital Good Platform. The ceremony was held in cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Riyadh.
The project aims at collecting donations from individuals around the world to serve the international development projects and to contribute to supporting and achieving sustainable development goals beyond 2015.
The digital platform was initiated by the Kingdom's youth and adopted by the UNDP. The electronic platform being one of the initiatives proposed by the Saudi youth who participated in Saudi-Indian Dialogue Forum for benefiting from electronic commerce potentialities to contribute to solving the problem of poverty in the world and providing the opportunity to collect donations from individuals around the world so as these donations reach the final beneficiary under the supervision of the United Nations represented in the main center of the UNDP in New York.
