Sudan to launch national campaign to combat violence against women

Khartoum (IINA) – Sudan's Ministry of Welfare and Social Security will launch here on November 25 a national campaign to combat violence against women, under the slogan of "Eradication of Child Marriage for Promotion of Girls Education".
According to Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Minister of Welfare and Social Security Mashaer Al-Dawalab received on Tuesday Director of the Unit to Combat Violence Against Women Dr Attiyat Mustafa, who briefed her on the details of the campaign set to raise the awareness and to show progress being made in the field of fighting violence against women.
Dr Attiyat revealed that amendments have been made to the Criminal Code, referring to the importance of establishment of Legal Reform Commission given the big role which could play in raising the people's awareness.
The minister lauded the role of the Unit and the accomplishments it scored in the area of fighting violence against women.
