London (IINA) – Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived here Sunday for a four-day visit to the United Kingdom to further enhance bilateral ties, especially on security matters, BERNAMA reported.
Upon arrival at London's Heathrow Airport, Ahmad Zahid and his accompanying delegation were received by Malaysian High Commissioner to the UK Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, and senior Malaysian state officials.
The visit, the first by Ahmad Zahid as deputy prime minister, is significant toward enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries on issues of common interest.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, will meet UK Home Secretary Theresa May to discuss various issues, including immigration and transnational crimes as well as counter-terrorism and human rights issues within the context of Islam.
At the conclusion of his visit on Wednesday, the deputy prime minister will deliver his keynote speech at the 7th World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES) in London.
