Jordanian king, Austrian lawmakers emphasize need to combat terrorism

Vienna, (IINA) - As part of the European tour, Jordanian King Abdullah stressed here the importance of legislative institutions in Jordan and Austria in promoting ties between the two countries.
The king made the remarks when he visited the Austrian Parliament, which comprises the national council and the federal council, Petra News Agency reported.
During the visit, Abdullah met with President of the National Council Doris Bures and discussed the latest developments in the Middle East region, as well as the international efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
During the meeting, the king renewed his condemnation of the terrorist attacks that hit the region and the world as well, calling for united efforts by the international community to confront terrorism in the whole world.
The king also met with the Austrian joint committee on foreign affairs and defense and a number of political parties’ leaders in the Austrian parliament, and discussed with lawmakers the Syrian crisis and efforts with the international community to address the crisis.
The spokesperson for the Austrian Social Democratic Parliamentary Group for Foreign and European Politics, Christine Muttonen, said in a statement, '' We should deal with the threats of the international terrorism not only at the military level, but also try to find solutions to economic problems in the region and promote cultural and interfaith dialogue.''
