New York, (IINA) - France is seeking political support in its fight against the ISIS extremist group, and it has submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council on Thursday that condemns the recent terror attacks and it also calls for doubling counter-terrorism efforts, DPA reported.
A spokesman for the French UN mission says that France hopes for the resolution to be adopted as soon as possible.
The resolution condemns "the continued gross, systematic and widespread abuses of human rights" committed by IS and calls for accountability for terrorist acts.
It also calls on countries to "redouble and coordinate their efforts to prevent and suppress terrorist acts committed" by the extremist group and "to eradicate the safe haven they have established over significant parts of Iraq and Syria".
