IIRO spends over SR 16 million for digging 1880 wells in 13 countries

Jeddah, (IINA) - The International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), an affiliate of the Muslim World League (MWL), has spent last year around SR 16,387,689 to dig 1880 shallow and artesian wells in 13 countries across Asia and Africa, SPA reported.
The aim of this project was to provide clean drinking water and irrigation in many remote villages in those poor countries, benefiting about 400,000 people.
The Organization's Secretary General Ihsan bin Saleh Tayyib explained that the countries that benefited from the wells are Yemen, Pakistan, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Niger, Mali, Somalia, Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
