Crises and Disasters in Muslim world kill 108,000 people in 2014 (IINA Report)

Jeddah, (IINA) – A recent report revealed that crises and disasters occurred in member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other Muslim minorities last year have led to the deaths of 107,902 people and dislodging more than 17 million between displaced and refugees.
The report, issued by Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Affairs Department (ICHAD-OIC), showed that around 45 crisis and disasters hit 27 Member States including, Myanmar, and Central Africa and some crises and disasters still occur in the Islamic world.
It also stated that 16 crisis and wars occurred in 14 member states, including Muslims in Myanmar and Central Africa, caused the deaths of 101,365 people, while 29 natural disasters occurred in 19 OIC affiliated countries and Myanmar, caused the deaths of 6537 people. 
The Secretary General of OIC, Iyad Madani, noted that the humanitarian situation is being degraded dramatically in a number of member states as a result of the deterioration of the political situation and crises in in various countries such as Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Chad and others. 
Madani stressed out that the OIC is trying hard to establish a mechanism to strengthen the cooperation between member states in order to face, mitigate and overcome disaster damages and consequences by using the most effective methods.  
The report also indicated that Syria was one of the countries that suffered the most of human causalities with 67,021 deaths followed by Iraq 15,538 deaths, Nigeria 8,464 deaths and Afghanistan 4,950 death 
The report pointed out that in 2014, Palestine lost 2042 person most of them from the Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip, while Pakistan had 2,081 deaths, Yemen 1500 and Libya 600 deaths. 
Lastly, Sierra Leone and Guinea were topped the most countries for the victims of human loss as a result of epidemic diseases (Ebola virus).
