Jeddah (IINA) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its strongest condemnation of the terrorist operation that targeted the central market in the Chadian capital N’djamena and resulted in the death of 10 people and wounding dozens of others.
The OIC stressed its rejection of such criminal acts that target innocent people, pays no attention to the sanctity of human life and takes no account of the religious significance of peace in Muslim societies especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Chad, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
Madani stressed the OIC’s full solidarity with the government and people of Chad in the face of terrorism, and expressed his confidence that such acts will not deter the Chadian government from continuing its role in fighting terrorism. He called for strengthening cooperation between the countries of the region to confront the threat of terrorism.
The secretary general reiterated the OIC’s position that rejects terrorism and extremism, and its full commitment to combat them within the framework of the OIC resolutions which call for a comprehensive approach taking into account the roots of terrorism in all of its historical, economic, social, ideological and educational dimensions.
