Taroudant, Morocco (IINA) - The French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is reportedly facing legal action after publishing “racist and hateful” cartoons mocking the Syrian toddler, Aylan Kurdi, who drowned and washed up on a Turkish beach earlier this month, Morocco World News reported.
The cartoons drawn and published by the satirical magazine, which depict the dead Aylan lying face down in the sand with the caption ‘So Close to the Goal’ enraged so many people.
British lawyer and political activist Peter Herbert, Chair of the Society of Black Lawyers and former Vice-Chair of the Metropolitan police authority, was among those who said Charlie Hebdo “is a purely racist, xenophobic and ideologically bankrupt publication.”
