UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Jamie McGoldrick while on Taiz visit (UN Radio)

Taiz (IINA) – Senior United Nations humanitarian officials on Saturday called for regular and unlimited access of humanitarian aid into the Yemeni city of Taiz, besieged by the Houthi militia and forces loyal to ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Jamie McGoldrick said he witnessed first-hand the humanitarian situation in Taiz, particularly in three districts of the city where access has been difficult for many months.
Following his visit with senior UN officials to Taiz and Ibb governorates, McGoldrick said he witnessed the damage caused by the blockade imposed by Saleh-Houthi militias on Taiz city, which is experiencing a shortage of basic services, including access to water and fuel.
