Jordanian King holds talks with leaders of South Asia

Jakarta, (IINA) - Jordanian King Abdullah on Wednesday met with leaders and heads of delegations taking part in the Asian-African Summit being held here, Petra reported.
The King met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the Prime Minister of Thailand Prayuth Chan-ocha and discussed with them means of boosting bilateral relations in the political, and economic fields. They also reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East and the world as a whole.
King Abdullah voiced appreciation of efforts exerted by Indonesia to host the summit that coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Asian-African partnership strategy and the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Summit.
For his part, President Widodo voiced his country's keenness to enhance relations with Jordan at the UN Security Council, mainly on issues of concern to the Islamic world as the Kingdom is heading the current Security Council session.
In this context, Abdullah emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between Islamic states and world countries, as this would support efforts to bring about just and comprehensive peace between the Palestinians and Israelis in line with the two-state solution.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with the latest regional and international issues, mainly efforts to fight extremism and terrorism that threaten world peace and security.
During his meeting with the Japanese prime minister, the two sides voiced satisfaction over the level of Jordanian-Japanese ties and highlighted the need to further enhance them in the economic, educational and cultural domains.
Separately, the King met with the PM of Thailand Chan-ocha and discussed with him relations between the two countries and means to further boost them, especially in the economic field.
Talks also dealt with regional and international issues, mainly efforts to fight terrorism and terrorist organizations.
