Six Saudi students win medals in International Junior Science Olympiad

Riyadh, (IINA) - Six Saudi students have won medals in the annual International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), which was held in South Korea on December 2 -12, Arab News reported.
The IJSO is an individual and collective competition in natural sciences and public education participated in by students of age 16 or below. The Saudis won one silver medal and five bronze medals in the competition
Former Minister of Education Azzam Al-Dakhil, who has been appointed adviser at the Royal Court, expressed satisfaction over the Saudi students’ achievements.
“We are proud of the achievements of our sons and daughters in international forums and support them in scientific competitions”, Al-Dakhil said.
He added that the students’ achievements were the results of concerted efforts and fruitful cooperation between organizations such as the ‘Ministry of Education’ and the ‘King Abdulaziz Foundation & Companions for Giftedness and Creativity’.
Al-Dakhil added that the government’s care for human mind and support for talent and creativity is the basis of the Kingdom’s development. “There’s no doubt that the achievements of the six students in the recently concluded Olympiad in South Korea serve to reinforce confidence among their Saudi counterparts in various fields of endeavor”, he said.
In the same context, he urged other Saudi students to also do their best in fields they are interested in, noting that the government would always support them.
