OIC chief, Guyanese president explore avenues of future cooperation

Riyadh (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani met here on Wednesday with President of the Republic of Guyana David Arthur Granger, who is on visit to Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary General briefed him on OIC's efforts in the political, cultural and social realms, in addition to the Organization's interest in issues pertaining to women and youths, especially in the microfinance sector.
He pointed out that there are a number of upcoming conferences dealing with those issues, expressing hope that Guyana would participate in the OIC's activities.
For his part, the President of Guyana welcomed the Secretary General, considering that this meeting would open up broader prospects for his country's participation in the OIC conferences and meetings. Meanwhile, he stressed that Guyana is looking forward to participate in the next Islamic Summit Conference in Turkey.
