Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – Malaysian Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan has said that Kuala Lumpur is being readied to become a world-class metropolis and one of the top livable cities by 2020, BERNAMA reported.
“A major ongoing project is the Mass Rapid Transit system that is expected to bolster the investment proposition of Greater Kuala Lumpur, the pulse of Malaysia’s economic activity,” he added when closing the Third Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals, here on Tuesday.
Tengku Adnan believed that networking among ASEAN capitals – to be signed into the Kuala Lumpur Declaration – would become a reality and improve the quality of life in the cities concerned.
He said Kuala Lumpur aimed to double tourist arrivals to 16 million by 2025 while generating 4 billion Malaysian Ringgits in additional investments and creating 71,000 job opportunities.
“To achieve this, Kuala Lumpur will need to unlock its full potential as a destination by developing an ambitious strategic plan across all key tourism segments,” he said.
