Paris, (IINA) - French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve condemned on Thursday the racist attacks that struck both Muslim and Jewish people in the southern city of Marseille, KUNA reported.
Cazeneuve said that those responsible for such attack would be found and put on trial. This came after French President Francois Hollande urged on Wednesday the French people to remain united in their fight against terrorism while warning that terrorism's goal is to divide the people of the country. "No xenophobic, anti-Semitic or anti-Muslim attack is to be tolerated", said the French President in his speech to France's Mayors.
However, a Muslim woman was insulted, punched and slashed with a cutter by an unknown group when she was leaving the Marseille subway while wearing a Hijab. The woman was escorted to a hospital and reports say her life is not in danger.
Cazeneuve said: "All support to the victims as well as the people in Marseille of Jewish and Muslim religion, … everything will be done to find and arrest the perpetrator of these indescribable acts (and) they will have to answer for them before the courts".
