Doha (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold in collaboration with the Qatar Charitable Society on Tuesday the Third International Forum for Humanitarian Work in Doha.
The Forum will be held with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), the International Centre for Studies and Research, Al Jazeera Center for Studies and the Cordoba Foundation.
The OIC delegation to the Forum will be headed by Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Ambassador Hesham Youssef, who will deliver a speech at the opening session on behalf of the Organization.
The Third Forum comes within the framework of the follow-up of civil society organizations' action, adopted in the Second Forum, held in Jeddah at the end of 2014, under the title "Humanitarian Action in a Turbulent World.”
The Forum will discuss the challenges confronting the humanitarian work, especially with regard to declining humanitarian aid due to the so-called "donor fatigue", in addition to the security risks faced by the humanitarian workers in some crisis-hit areas.
The Third Forum will review a set of issues, most notably the "code of conduct", which is concerned with the activities of humanitarian organizations, pursuant to specific professional rules. The forum sessions will also discuss the issue of safe access to victims of disasters and armed conflicts.
