Geneva (IINA) – Members of the Executive Office of the Arab Health Ministers' Council met here on Sunday to discuss health conditions in Palestine, the Syrian Golan Heights and Yemen, in light of the current crises, and decided to send urgent medical supplies to Yemen, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) reported that Kuwait's Health Minister Dr Ali Al-Obaidi, who chaired the meeting, said that the ministers also discussed the establishment of a medical research center based in Cairo, and reviewed health conditions in the Eastern Mediterranean countries, such as non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including obesity, heart diseases, cancer and diabetes, as well as the effects of smoking.
The meeting also discussed the agenda of the Arab Health Ministers' Conference, which will be held Monday on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Dr Al-Obaidi said that they also discussed ways to manage NCDs beyond 2015, and follow up on polio. The Executive Office consists of Kuwait, Comoros, Libya, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco.
