21 prisoners convert to Islam in Sharjah

Sharjah, (IINA) - A total of 21 female and male prisoners have converted to Islam in the first quarter of 2016 in Ajman, United Arab of Emirates, Khaleej Times newspaper reported.
Emirati Colonel Ahmed Abdul Aziz Shuhail, deputy director of Ajman Central Jail, said 21 inmates have declared their conversion to Islam though the initiative launched by department of reformatory and rehabilitation at Sharjah central jail to support new Muslims.
He pointed out that the Sharjah Punitive and Reformatory Establishments (SPRE) encourages non-Muslims to convert to Islam through religious lectures which aimed at spreading of Islamic teachings.
The SPRE, in coordination with Islamic Affairs department in Sharjah, presented 80 lectures during 2016.
He said that five inmates declared on Monday their conversion in the presence of a top official of Sharjah police.
