Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmoud Ali

Dhaka, (IINA) - Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmoud Ali has called for unity of the Muslim world to fight for the just cause of the Palestinians and to realize a state of Palestine, Financial Express Bangladesh newspaper reported.
He made the call while addressing the 5th extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in Jakarta on Monday.
The Summit was convened at the request of Palestine, which was attended, by a number of heads of states and governments, ministers and senior officials from the OIC countries.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas set the tone of the deliberations of the Summit by his opening statement on the precarious situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Bangladesh FM in his remarks condemned continued Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and its repressive policies causing untold sufferings to the Palestinian people.
He expressed deep concern over the changing demographic character of Palestine and Al-Quds with continued expansion of settlements and evictions of Palestinians from their land and thereby divesting Al-Quds of its historic Arab and Islamic character.
Ali emphasized solidarity of the Ummah to desist Israel from undertaking such illegal actions. He also supported the call for convening an international peace conference to realize globally accepted two state solution of the Palestinian problem. The Summit adopted a draft resolution and a declaration titled, The Jakarta Declaration on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
