Islamabad, (IINA) - Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the government will take all the necessary steps to bring an end to all kinds of discrimination against women, Radio Pakistan News reported.
He said the government is committed to address women's problems and take necessary steps to stop hateful practice of honour killing, noting that men and women enjoy equal rights in Islam and the government has laid special focus on the protection of women rights.
He said the screening of the film in the PM House is manifestation of his government's resolve to protect women's rights and end violence against women. Nawaz commended Chinoy for highlighting the dark aspect of the society.
The prime minister on Monday also said civil society, religious scholars, and media condemned crimes against women in the name of honour. He said killing in the name of honor is wrong and relevant legislation will be done to check inhumane practice.
Sharif noted that people are aware of the fact that their rights can be protected in a better way in the democratic system. Nawaz Sharif said it was his mission to translate Quaid-i-Azam's vision for a prosperous and developed Pakistan into a reality.
The prime minister said it is the endeavour of his government to ensure protection of human rights of all segments of society as per the constitution.
