Sudan government, People’s Movement-North hold consultations in Berlin

Berlin (IINA) – An unofficial consultation session was held here on Friday between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), and the session was co-chaired by Eng. Ibrahim Mahmoud, assistant to Sudan president and deputy chairman of the National Congress, and Yasir Arman, official of SPLM-N.
In his speech, before the opening session, Mahmoud expressed the government's readiness and resolve to go ahead for reaching peaceful settlement of disputes and cessation of war in the country. He commended the German role in work for peace in Sudan.
Arman underscored the desire of the People's Movement to work wholeheartedly to end the war and to work for the resolution of the differences peacefully.
Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported that the German government welcomed the holding of unofficial consultations and hoped that they will lead to fruitful results, stressing Germany's readiness to support peace process in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the other concerned parties.
For his part, the AU Representative expressed hope that the two parties reach understandings that would enhance efforts of peaceful settlement and ending of war.
