Jakarta (IINA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics has blocked a number of radical websites and social media accounts supporting acts of terrorism, in the wake of Thursday's terror attacks in Jakarta.
"After monitoring and receiving reports from the community regarding the owners of social media accounts that supported the Sarinah bomb attacks on January 14, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics decided to block them," the office's head of information and public relations, Ismail Cawidu, said in a text message received by ANTARA News on Saturday.
Seven people were killed in the terrorist attacks in Jakarta on Thursday, including five of the attackers and two civilians, an Indonesian citizen and a Canadian. More than 20 people, including five police officers, were injured in the attack.
According to the ministry, the social media accounts and radical websites which have been blocked include Facebook and Twitter accounts that blatantly advocate terrorism.
