Baghdad (IINA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Saturday pledged to stamp out corruption and get rid of Daesh (ISIS) terrorist gangs in Iraq this year, amid criticism that his government has done little to combat graft.
"The year 2016 is for eliminating corruption, and there is no such things as acceptable corruption and non-acceptable corruption," he said in a speech at a ceremony in Baghdad to mark the 94th anniversary of the establishment of Iraqi police.
Abadi rejected the presence of any foreign force on the Iraqi territory. He called on Turkey to withdraw its forces from the northern parts of the country, vowing that his government would take the necessary measures to push them away.
