Abu Dhabi (IINA) – Yemeni Vice-President and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah on Monday called on the international community and the United Nations to seek firmly and urgently to implement all UN resolutions on Yemen.
During a meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the margins of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, UAE, both sides exchanged views on how to renew the ceasefire and prepare for a new round of political negotiations.
Bahah called on the international community and the United Nations to seek firmly and urgently to implement all UN resolutions on Yemen, including the Security Council resolution no. 2216 and oblige the Houthi militias and forces loyal to deposed Saleh to accept and implement this resolution in order to stop the Yemeni bloodshed. He also expressed his country's aspiration to reach peace and stop the bloodshed and destruction.
For his part, the UN chief called on the government and all parties in Yemen as well as states in the region to commit to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire to enable the rapid resumption of already delayed UN-brokered peace talks. He also stressed the need for all sides to implement the confidence-building measures discussed in Switzerland last month, including the release of prisoners, and full and unhindered humanitarian access, including to the central town of Taiz.
