San Jose, (IINA) - Google has announced on Thursday that it signed six long-term contracts with power providers in the US, Chile and Sweden to source up to 842 megawatts of clean energy.
Google has pledged on July to triple its purchases of renewable energy by 2025, saying that it wants power 100% of its operations by solely using clean energy.
Google’s agreements will add an additional 842 megawatts of renewable energy capacity to power its data centers. Across three countries, Google is nearly doubling the amount of renewable energy it has purchased to date.
The total of Google’s clean energy use is two gigawatts, which is the equivalent to taking nearly 1 million cars off the road.
These additional 842 megawatts represent a range of locations and technologies, from a wind farm in Sweden to a solar plant in Chile.
