New York, (IINA) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued an alert for an Arizona man who posted a video on Facebook that the agency said could be perceived as threatening a Muslim group in upstate New York, Scranton Times online news reported.
Jon Ritzheimer of Phoenix, Arizona, was reportedly in Scranton when FBI agents, who had been communicating with him, lost contact with him, according to a story in the New York Daily News, which cited anonymous sources.
The newspaper said the FBI issued an alert based on a video Ritzheimer posted in which he displayed a gun and said he was driving cross-country to confront members of Muslims of America, a group located in Albany, N.Y.
“After recently becoming aware of a video which could have been perceived as threatening against the Muslim community in Hancock, N.Y., the FBI immediately took steps to notify our federal, state and local partners,” the paper quoted a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Albany field office as saying, RAW Story news reported.
In a prepared statement, Paul Holstein, spokesman for the FBI office in Albany, confirmed the FBI notified federal, state and local authorities after it was advised of the video.
From their side, the Muslims of America have called for Ritzheimer’s arrest, according to the reports.
