Bethlehem, (IINA) - A young Palestinian man was shot dead on Tuesday by Israeli forces stationed at the Container Checkpoint, northeast of Bethlehem, WAFA reported citing security sources.
The forces on the checkpoint, which control the only major road connecting the southern West Bank districts of Hebron and Bethlehem to the central and northern West Bank, reportedly stopped a public cab and ordered passengers to get out of it before inspecting their identification cards.
As a passenger attempted to pick up his mobile that slipped from his fingers to the floor, a soldier shot and critically injured him. Soldiers also prevented Palestinian ambulances from reaching the injured man.
Then, they subsequently closed the checkpoints in both directions and fired tear gas at Palestinian Palestinians’ cars stuck at the checkpoint, causing many to suffocate.
This brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of the unrest across West Bank in early October to 82, including 14 children and 4 women, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health
