Kuala Lumpur, (IINA) - Commending Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak for “rejecting any link between terror and religion”, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised him for “highlighting the real values of Islam,” The Statesman online news reported.
“You (Razak) have provided leadership in combating extremism and radicalization, rejecting any link between terror and religion, and in highlighting the real values of Islam,” Modi said at a joint press conference here with Razak.
“This is a great contribution to an important aspect of our global efforts against this challenge,” said Modi adding that the recent spate of attacks in different countries were a reminder of the global nature of the threat of terrorism.
Earlier, Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome here as he entered the bilateral phase of his visit to Malaysia, the third day of his visit to this Southeast Asian nation.
Modi attended the 13th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)-India Summit on Saturday and the 10th East Asia Summit on Sunday.
