Marrakech, (IINA) - President of the Moroccan Alliance of Scouts and Guides (AMPSG), Maher Semmar, noted recently that he opposed the participation of an Israeli delegation at the 15th Mediterranean meeting, scheduled for the 22 of October until the 27 in Marrakech, Morocco World News (MWN) reported.
He told reporters that AMPSG received a request from Israel to allow an Israeli delegation of 9 people to represent the Jewish state in the meeting in Marrakech.
Semmar went on to add that the AMPSG has rejected the request.
Normalization with Israel is a sensitive issue in Morocco, and some members of parliament in the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) have demanded “a quick approval of the law that criminalizes normalization with Israel.
“Morocco opposes the participation of the Israeli delegation made up of nine members,” Maher said at a conference in Rabat, excluding any Israeli participation in the meeting that will be organized under the patronage of King Mohammed.
The same source added that the rejection of Israeli participation is due to its continuous aggression against the Palestinian people, which has recently exacerbated in the occupied territories, especially in Al Quds.
No less than 160 Scouts Pioneers representing 18 countries will participate in the Mediterranean meeting, under the theme “Renewable Energy: Issues and Perspectives”.
The conference will be followed by follow-up meetings from October 27 to November 2 in Marrakech, Rabat, Meknes, Fez, and Casablanca.
