Makkah, (IINA) - The final phase of the expansion work of Mataf (the circumambulation area around the Kaaba) has resumed on Tuesday after the departure of most of the Hajj pilgrims. More than 14,000 engineers, technicians and laborers are working around the clock to finish the project, which aims to increase the capacity of the Mataf in the Grand Mosque of Makkah to 105,000 worshippers per hour, Saudi Gazette reported.
The workers have finished linking the bridges, which facilitate flow of worshippers out of the Mataf, with the upper floors of the Grand Mosque. Works have been completed for the mezzanine floor of the Mataf as well as on Al-Fateh's gate, the Umrah's gate and King Abdulaziz's gate.
Installations have resumed for all electromechanical systems, units of the central air-conditioning, ventilation, lighting, sound system, clocks and surveillance cameras.
