Djibouti calls on Somalia to eliminate Al-Shabaab militants

New York, (IINA) - Djibouti on Monday called on Somalia to build a strong army to restore stability in the region, and eliminate Al-Shabaab militant group which is linked to Al-Qaeda, saying that the militant group poses a serious threat to the security of the Horn of Africa region.
Djiboutian President Ismail Guelleh stressed in his speech in New York the need to unite the efforts of Somalia's neighbors to strengthen the capabilities of forces and defeat the rebels.
He praised the pivotal role played by the African Union mission in Somalia, which was able to retake areas that were under the control of the extremist movement.
