Amman, (IINA) - Jordanian King Abdullah on Monday met with member of the French Senate and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Josette Durrieu, who is currently on a visit to the Kingdom as part of a regional tour, Petra reported.
During the meeting, which was held at Al Husseiniya Palace, the King voiced pride in the distinguished level of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the political and economic fields.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with Jordanian-French ties, mainly in the parliamentary and legislative fields, and ways to increase the exchange of expertise and cooperation among legislative institutions in both countries.
They also discussed the request for partner for democracy status with PACE, submitted by the Jordanian Parliament. The king and the French official also reviewed ways of addressing current regional issues, mainly the crisis in Syria, efforts to counter terrorism and revive peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis to achieve peace and stability in the region.
In this context, the king highlighted the role played by France and EU countries to deal with these issues.
The French official praised Jordan's comprehensive reform process led by the king and its efforts with all influential parties to bring about peace in the region and enhance world peace and security.
