Rabat (IINA) – Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri called for not politically exploiting the painful stampede incident that occurred in Mina on the first day of Eid al-Adha, into which the competent Saudi authorities are conducting extensive investigations.
Dr Altwaijri said in a statement obtained by the International Islamic News Agency (IINA) that this incident should not be exploited to spread slanders and abuses against the country which Allah has honored by making it the land of the Two Holy Mosques and Holy sites. He pointed to the great efforts exerted and are being exerted by Saudi Arabia to develop the Two Holy Mosques and care for them, as well as providing pilgrims from all over the globe with means of security and comfort.
Altwaijri said that this tragic incident has grieved all Muslims, at the forefront of whom are the leaders of the Kingdom and its people who expressed their shock and pain at what happened. He stated that the relevant Saudi authorities had immediately responded to this painful incident and provided the ambulance, rescue and treatment services.
The ISESCO chief stressed the need for those who politically exploited this sorrowful incident and sought to spread chaos to be aware that the tolerant teachings of Islam do not allow manifestation of evil and false accusations. He added that the principles of the joint Islamic action call for respect for the sovereignty of member states and non-interference in their affairs and work to promote the brotherhood and solidarity ties among them.
Altwaijri said that today the Muslim world is in desperate need for synergy and cooperation in righteousness and piety and honesty in words and deeds in order to be able to overcome the difficulties and problems that have overwhelmed and weakened its strength and unity.
He called on scholars of the Muslim world and their Ulama bodies to strongly stand in face of any invitation for sowing the seeds of division and bickering among Muslims and involving them into strives and conflicts that threaten the security and safety of their nation.
