Nouakchott (IINA) – The African Union (AU) announced on Tuesday the cancellation of its decision to suspend Burkina Faso.
The decision comes after Michel Kafando has been reinstated as Burkina Faso's interim president and has resumed the exercise of power, following a week-long military coup staged by soldiers from the elite presidential guard (RSP).
The AU announced its intention to send an observer mission for the coming elections.
It may be mentioned here that on September 19, the African Union had suspended Burkina Faso and threatened to impose sanctions on coup leaders if they did not restore the interim government and release its senior officials.
