OIC chief expresses support for reform steps in Iraq

Baghdad, (IINA) - The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani, expresses his support and backing to the reform measures adopted by the Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi and endorsed by the Parliament.
Madani also affirmed his confidence that these reforms will be instrumental towards achieving the cohesion of the whole spectrum of Iraqi people.
In addition to that, the OIC chief announced his support for the legitimate leadership and the unity of the Iraqi territory and people and for the preservation of Iraq’s national sovereignty, security and stability.
This what Chief Adviser to the Secretary General and Director General of Cabinet at the OIC Dr. Abdulaziz Al Sebail, announced when he was received by Iraqi PM al-Abadi on Thursday in Baghdad.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Sebail handed a written letter to the PM from the OIC chief in which he reiterated the OIC’s readiness to contribute to the Iraqi leadership’s efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive national reconciliation for the benefit and prosperity of Iraq and its people.
On his part, Al-Abadi paid tribute to the OIC for its effective role in supporting Iraq and expressed the Iraqi officials’ readiness to work hand in hand with the OIC towards an Iraqi national reconciliation. Within the same context, the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Dr. Ibrahim al-Jaafari during his meeting with Dr. Al Sebail, reasserted Iraq’s committed interest in the OIC’s role during this important stage in supporting Iraqi national unity.
