Amman, (IINA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Tuesday met with Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), Ertharin Cousin and discussed scopes of cooperation between Jordan and the WFP, Petra reported.
Judeh noted that the decline in funding by the donor community to the WFP would negatively impact aid extended to Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.
He also stressed Jordan's keenness on cooperating with the WFP, commending the WFP's role in extending aid to Syrian refugees.
In addition, the minister outlined repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which hosts more than 1.6 million Syrian refugees.
Judeh and Cousin urged the international community to increase its support to the Kingdom to enable it to continue offering humanitarian assistance to the refugees.
Cousin praised Jordan's role to serve Syrian refugees, affirming the WFP's support to Jordan.
