Khartoum (IINA) – A delegation from Qatari charitable organizations visited the Al-Junaynah, the capital city of Sudan's West Darfur state, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The visit falls within the framework of carrying out the second phase of the Qatari projects that aim to promote peace in Darfur.
Azhari Ahmed Shata, commissioner of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) for Voluntary Return and Resettlement, said the visit by Qatari charitable organizations delegation aimed at exploring the prospects of implementing the second phase of the Qatari projects in Darfur and enhancing efforts made by the signatories to the Doha Document to speed up the implementation of the peace agreement.
He lauded the achievements made by the Qatari initiative in Darfur to promote and consolidate peace and stability, pointing out that Qatar announced the building of five model villages in all five states of Darfur in the first phase in 2013.
The commissioner added that the second phase, which is currently being carried out, includes 10 model villages in all Darfur states.
