Brussels, (IINA) - Some Jewish groups are shocked after they were approached by right-wing European political parties, soliciting them to form an anti-Islamic alliance within their organizations, JP Newspaper reported on Wednesday.
According to Newsweek, a senior figure in one of Europe’s largest Jewish organizations said their group was approached in the past year by MEPs, seeking to create a coalition to combat the rise of Islam in Europe.
Though, the Jewish groups immediately turned down the request because it is unnecessary considering they don’t have a personal vendetta against the Muslim community. To approve such a suggestion would also only increase the already rising anti-Semitism.
The anti-Islamic groups continued their push last week when far-Right politicians met with Vadim Rabinovich, the chairman of the European Jewish Parliament (EJP). Jewish groups were outraged upon discovery of this meeting.
“The meeting with the Europe of Nations and Freedom opens the new dialogue, which, in our firm conviction is what Europe needs today a dialogue of everybody with everyone, in order to preserve peace and tolerance and combat anti-Semitism in Europe,” said Rabinovich.
