Riyadh (IINA) - A charitable foundation called “Smile” will be launched on Sunday night at the Al-Hokair Land in the Saudi capital to make people happy.
“The foundation will be launched to make Saudi Arabia a center of smiles,” well-known television host and Islamic scholar Mohsin Sheikh Al-Hassan announced. On the reason for launching the foundation, Al-Hassan cited a Hadith that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that a smile on one’s face is a gift.
Well-known Saudi businessman Sheikh Abdul Mohsen Al-Hokair will launch the foundation, which will be aired on Al-Margab Saudi TV’s ninth episode of the program, “Al-Khair Yagmana” (Gathering for Happiness). Al-Hassan is the program host. “An estimated five million viewers are expected to watch the program on Al-Margab 1 and 2 Saudi TV,” Al-Hassan said.
The program, which started on the first day of Ramadan, is relayed from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Al-Hassan said the foundation aims to make people smile even if they’re angry, not feeling well or hungry especially during Ramadan because they’re fasting. Al-Hokair, he said, has noted that a lot of people generally don’t smile especially when they’re angry or not feeling well. “These people include businessmen, bank staff and other professionals. Hence, Al-Hokair wants to educate people how to smile even if they’re in a bad situation,” he said. Al-Hassan said that those invited to attend the program include top Saudi officials, businessmen, princes, diplomats and media personalities.
Gifts such as food in boxes, rice, cooking oil and sugar will be given away to the needy and the poor. There will also be gifts for children. “Sheep will also be raffled off in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan,” he said.
