Lebanese former PM Mikati warns of tampering with PM powers

Friday 12 Jun 2015 - 17:26 Makkah mean time-25-8-1436 (Image from Lebanese National News) Akkar, Lebanon (IINA) - Lebanese Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Thursday warned of tampering with the powers of the prime minister, calling to utilize the current international umbrella to reach agreement among all the Lebanese parties, Lebanese National News agency reported. Mikati noted that this step should be considered, in order to clinch stability, starting with the election of a president of the republic in the nearest time possible. "Today I repeat what I have already reiterated on many occasions: it is inadmissible to tamper with the powers of the prime minister in any way whatsoever," he said is a statement delivered following his meeting with Former Lawmaker Wajih Baarini in Akkar.
