OIC chief Iyad Madani

Jeddah (IINA) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani welcomed the launching of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Work in Riyadh by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
Launching of the center comes within the continuation of King Salman's humanitarian initiatives to alleviate the suffering of societies affected by disasters and crises.
The Secretary General recalled that the announcement by King Salman to allocate $1 billion for relief and humanitarian work for the center, in addition to previous allocations in response to humanitarian and relief needs of the Yemeni people, fall under the scope of the King's aim to remove the plight of peoples, communities and states facing disasters and crises.
The OIC also commended the humanitarian and relief works provided by Saudi Arabia through humanitarian caravans extended to crisis-hit peoples and poor nations as part of the Kingdom’s benevolent initiatives across the world.
The OIC said it was following with deep concern the consequences of the ongoing events in Yemen caused by attacks against the legitimate authority in terms of the collapse of basic services, notably healthcare and the lack of food and drinking water in a critical humanitarian disaster. In this context, the OIC stated that it will do what it can to provide, through its office in Yemen, the humanitarian capabilities by delivering emergency humanitarian assistance to the affected Yemeni people.
