Mombasa, Kenya (IINA) - Promoting coexistence and tolerance, the governor of Mombasa along with Muslim lawmakers joined Christian services in several churches in the Kenyan coastal city of Mombasa, in an interfaith tour to break barriers, OnIslam reported.
"I urge Christians to pray for peace and stand up against terrorism," Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho told Standard Digital on Monday.
In his visit to the churches, Joho led a team of Muslim officials who attended several church services in Mombasa on Sunday.
The interfaith tour was also attended by Christian ministers including the county executives Anthony Njaramba (Agriculture), Hazel Koitaba (Finance) and Francis Thoya of Lands.
"We have Kenyans of all religions and all tribes represented in the county government to co-exist harmoniously," Joho said.

It is noteworthy that there are nearly ten million Muslims in Kenya, which has a population of 36 million.
