GCC chief Al-Zayani
Paris (IINA) – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Abdullatif Al-Zayani met with UN envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed in Paris on Wednesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
During the meeting, they discussed the developments of the situation in Yemen and efforts being exerted to push forward the peace process, on the bases of the GCC initiative and outcome of the national dialogue, as well as the UN Security Council's pertinent resolutions, including resolution no. 2216, adopted in April under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
They also highlighted the importance of convening the Riyadh dialogue conference, slated for May 17, intensifying relief and humanitarian works for the Yemeni people, as well as continuing cooperation and coordination between the GCC and the UN to provide the necessary support for the political solution and enhancing security and stability in Yemen.
