Tuesday 17 Mar 2015 - 11:30 Makkah mean time-26-5-1436 Refugee camp (Internet/Image) Kuwait City (IINA) – Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said that over 78 countries and 40 international bodies and organizations are set to participate in the Third International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria, to be hosted by Kuwait on March 31, KUNA reported.
During a meeting with the envoys and officials of the diplomatic missions of the countries that will take part in the conference here, Foreign Ministry Protocol Director Ambassador Dhari Al-Ajran said that Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will deliver the inaugural speech during the event, followed by a speech by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
It is noteworthy that Kuwait had hosted the first and second donors' conferences for Syria in 2013 and 2014, with pledges amounted to $1.5 billion and $2.4 billion respectively. Kuwait donated about $300 million and $500 million in the first and second gatherings.
