Tuesday 24 Feb 2015 - 10:40 Makkah mean time-5-5-1436 OIC chief welcomes the signing of an agreement to end violence in Northern Mali Jeddah, (IINA) - The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Madani welcomed the signing of an agreement on 19th February in Algiers by the participants in the inter-Malian inclusive dialogue to put an immediate end to all forms of violence or provocative acts in Northern Mali.
The OIC chief praised the international mediation efforts led by the Algerian People's Democratic Republic for brokering this interim agreement, and called on all parties to strictly abide by their commitment.
He also promised to provide the full support of OIC for the process developing of this agreement, which constitutes a vital element for the peace process and the stability of the region.
The Secretary General again renewed his appeal to the parties of their historic responsibility to the people of Mali by embracing the spirit of sacrifice and compromise during this crucial phase of the Algiers peace talks with a view to reaching a comprehensive and durable peace agreement as expeditiously as possible.
