Monday 02 Feb 2015 - 11:42 Makkah mean time-13-4-1436 Amman, (IINA) – Jordanian King Abdullah on Sunday called Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and expressed his strong condemnation of the terrorist attacks that recently targeted military personnel and Egyptian citizens in the Sinai Peninsula, Petra news reported.
King Abdullah expressed his condolences to President El-Sisi and the families of the innocent victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, stressing Jordan's solidarity with Egypt and its people to overcome these difficult circumstances.
During the call, the King and El-Sisi discussed bilateral ties and regional developments of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, speaker of the Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks as well which hit police stations and military installations in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, on Thursday night, killing and wounding dozens of innocent people, WAM reported.
In a statement Ahmed Mohammed Al Jarwan said: "These cowardly terrorist acts will not affect the determination and resolve of the Egyptian people and leadership to continue countering cowardly terrorism as well as to march ahead towards the election of a free Egyptian parliament that reflects the will of the great people of Egypt." He also expressed sympathy with the families of the Egyptian martyrs who fell victim to the terrorist attacks.
Al Jarwan further called on the UN Security Council to strongly condemn these terrorist attacks and to form international counter-terrorism agencies that coordinate the exchange of intelligence as well as efforts to isolate terrorism.
