Sunday 30 Nov 2014 - 14:51 Makkah mean time-8-2-1436 Tehran (IINA) – The 10th Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers (ICIM) will kick off here on Monday, under the theme “Media Convergence for Peace and Calm in the Islamic World”.
The Conference, which will be held on December 3-4, will be preceded by a senior officials meeting to discuss the draft resolutions. Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani and Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance will participate in the opening session.
The conference will discuss a number of important issues in the domain of information, including the role of the media in supporting the cause of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque through exposing the Israeli aggressive policy against the Islamic sanctities in Palestine.
It will also discuss the means of boosting the information-related action, in cooperation with media institutions in OIC member states and international media institutions, to face the dangers of extremism and Islamophobia, support joint Islamic action, and coordinate information among the OIC institutions.
Moreover, the conference will discuss strengthening the OIC's information role in assuming leadership of cultural exchanges, development and peace, in addition to the establishment of a publication unit in the OIC Information Department at the General Secretariat.
