Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (IINA) - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou on Wednesday for a two-day official visit during which he will discuss the country’s affairs.
Foreign Affairs Minister Alpha Barry greeted the UN chief at Ouagadougou airport. The UN secretary general congratulated the country’s president and his people on the successful management of the political transition and the holding of peaceful and democratic elections, the Government Information Centre said.
During his stay, the UN chief will meet with various political figures and hold face-to-face talks with President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré during an official dinner after meeting UN staff working in the country.
It is noteworthy that this is Ban’s third visit to Burkina Faso, and that he will be visiting sites bearing UN’s socio-economic achievements.
After Ouagadougou, he will set off to Mauritania’s capital city of Nouakchott on Thursday night.
